It’s well-documented that color has a great deal of influence on your mood. Now imagine that the color spans the entirety of a wall or is featured in every room of your home. Here is a bit of information on how these colors affect your mood:
- Red: energizing, exciting, speeds up the nervous system. Good for a living or dining room. Too stimulating for a bedroom.
- Yellow: happy, uplifting, expansive and welcoming. Shown that “that people are more likely to lose their temper in a yellow interior.” Good for kitchens, entries and small spaces.
- Blue: Relaxing. Slows the nervous system. Dark blue conveys sadness, while light blues can come off as chilly. Try warm or bright blues like periwinkle or turquoise.
- Green: Restful, comforting stress relieving. Great choice for a bedroom.
- Purple: Luxurious, creative. Darker purple is great as an accent, while lighter purples are great for bedrooms as they “bring the same restful quality to bedrooms as blue does, but without the risk of feeling chilly.”
- Orange: Exciting, energetic. Great for an exercise room.
- Neutrals: Neutral colors are perfect for decorating. You can easily add pops of color as desired.
